Day Lumber Coporation was incorporated in 1929 by Clarence Day. Clarence operated Day Lumber as a lumber and retail yard. In the mid 1950s, Peck Lumber Company purchased Day Lumber. Peck Lumber was a family business that owned timberlands, sawmills, and a planning mill. Day Lumber's business evolved into the manufacturing of wooden packaging. The Peck family has placed over 7,000 acres of land into conservation. In 1986, John and Deborah Simpson purchased Day Lumber Corporation. In 2008, Arthur Grodd became the current owner of the newly named KG Pallet, LLC d/b/a/ Day Lumber Company with his partner Neal Churchill.

As the business evolved, Day Lumber became one of the first companies in the United States to manufacture shock pallets for the computer industry. In addition, Day Lumber has manufactured cushion pallets for Compaq, Wang Labs, Data General Hewlett-Packard, and Prime Computer.
