Day Lumber Coporation was incorporated in 1929 by Clarence Day. Clarence operated Day Lumber as a lumber and retail yard. In the mid 1950s, Peck Lumber Company purchased Day Lumber. Peck Lumber was a family business that owned timberlands, sawmills, and a planning mill. Day Lumber's business evolved into the manufacturing of wooden packaging. The Peck family has placed over 7,000 acres of land into conservation. In 1986, John and Deborah Simpson purchased Day Lumber Corporation. In 2008, Arthur Grodd became the current owner of the newly named KG Pallet, LLC d/b/a/ Day Lumber Company with his partner Neal Churchill.
As the business evolved, Day Lumber became one of the first companies in the United States to manufacture shock pallets for the computer industry. Day Lumber was the primary supplier for Digital Equipment, providing them with shock and wooden pallets for more than thirty years. In addition, Day Lumber has manufactured cushion pallets for Compaq, Wang Labs, Data General Hewlett-Packard, and Prime Computer.
Presently, Day Lumber operates it's manufacturing from a 40,000 sq. ft. clear span, concrete building. In addition, it has 100,000 sq. ft. of outside storage. The administration building is a detached clapboard building. Day Lumber Company is located in Westfield, MA, the crossroads of New England. Day Lumber Company has recently been purchased by KG Pallet LLC. KG Pallet has over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing and lumber industry. We have expanded to include a state of the art Heat Treatment Kiln on site for export certification.
